Well after a long weekend of coughing & fevers, I took Grant Bradley to the pediatrician. Grant has pneumonia in one lung. Say what? I don't know, but I'm just glad to be spending quite a bit of change at CVS for some mighty drugs rather than going to Children's Hospital! Let me just say how much I adore my children's doctor. When we first moved to Columbus four years ago, we stumbled across Dr. McClellan and have never looked back. Today both kids were tested for strep....negative! Jenna definitely has the flu and is miserable. If there is an award for the house with the most cases of flu back to back....WE WIN!!!! This time it's the achy, head hurting, glassy eyes, lethargic & high fever that had me worried. Both kids have lost a bit of weight since we began the "flu season" two weeks ago. I'm staying home tomorrow with the kids to give them yet another day of lying around and making sure their fevers are gone.
For those of you with kids in school, you'll know exactly what I'm saying in that it is horrible how many parents send their kids to school when they are still sick. Isn't this question on the parental test that should be given out to ALL parents before they deliver? Oh-that's right...there is no test. It's strictly TRIAL BY FIRE! Well, I can assure you that in our house we are certain that fevers/puking/diarrhea have all been absent for 24 hours before we send them on their way to get reintroduced to a new "bug". I can hear my mother right now saying, "Oh, the joys of parenting"! Of course, she was right.
I must admit that I love to stay home and just cuddle with my kids. It won't be long until they don't want me to lay down with them, or hold them, or read stories to them. So, I'm savoring this time when they need me.
